EEG has now completed its purchase of Gameday Group’s B2C Bethard sportsbook operation.
First announced in May, the purchase includes a €16m cash payment and a 12% net gaming revenue share for two years. In total, the deal is estimated to be worth approximately $27m.
Grant Johnson, CEO of Esports Entertainment said: “This is another great addition for Esports Entertainment Group that substantially increases our revenue and available markets. We will gain two new gaming licenses from this transaction, including one in the strategically important Swedish market. With these additions, we’ll have a total of 6 tier one licenses globally.”
The online brand is licensed in both Sweden and Spain and in May. Johnson said the two new licences would play a significant role in the company’s continued growth.
The acquisition was announced shortly after the European football governing body Uefa launched an investigation into AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimović over financial ties to the operator.
The footballer was hit with a €50,000 fine and Uefa also issued a warning and a fine of €25,000 to AC Milan for violation of Article 12(2)(b), as the club’s player was found to have financial ties to a betting company.
With the purchase of the Swedish-facing brand now complete, EEG has increased its fiscal 2022 revenue guidance to between $100m and $105m.
Another deal for EEG
The esports operator has been hard at work to establish its presence in the US betting and online gambling space.
Last week EEG partnered with Hall of Fame Resort and Entertainment Company to become the exclusive esports provider at the Hall of Fame Village in Ohio. This deal could potentially provide EEG with a route into the state’s sports betting market if the activity is approved in the future.
In June, EEG announced a partnership with the Indian Gaming Esports Association (iGEA) and Spectrum Gaming Capital to help bring esports to tribal nations and casino facilities.
Under the terms of the agreement, Esports Entertainment Group will be the exclusive provider of esports technology and services to iGEA as it seeks to integrate a full suite of B2C and B2B esports services to tribes and tribal casinos.
Last month, EEG completed its $43m acquisitions of Helix eSports and ggCircuit, which were both announced in October 2020.

Both EEG and the Rangers will also collaborate to create video content to promote the tournament’s across the team’s digital platforms.
