Hopa Sportsbook
The Hopa customer support team is on hand between the hours of 9am to midnight, 7 days a week. Communication can be initiated via both email and live chat, with response times being good across the board. Unfortunately, there is no telephone support to speak of at present.
HOPA SPORTSBOOK REVIEW
Having been established in 2005, Hopa have a long history within the gambling industry, with their sportsbook in particular having helped them attract new customers on a regular basis in recent times. With the bookmaker being able to cater for customers based in the UK thanks to a license from the Gambling Commission, one of the most appealing factors surrounding their operation is their mobile offerings, which make betting on the go very convenient.
This review will take an in-depth look at Hopa, with a specific focus upon their mobile platforms. Let’s kick things off by discussing the sign-up offer in which mobile customers can look forward to at Hopa.
18+, welcome bonus: new players only, 1st deposit, min deposit £10, max £10 free bet valid for 14 days, bets must be placed at odds of 1/1 or greater and be settled within 14 days of placement. System bets not eligible. Only depositing using specific payment methods only. Full T&Cs apply.
Launching back in 2005 as an online casino Hopa recently added a sports betting service in 2020 allowing customers to bet on a range of sports and markets.
Hopa Sports is operated by Aspire Global International LTD which also runs other popular sports betting sites such as Karamba, Mr Play and BetRegal.
Hopa Sports Horse Racing Offers
Customers at Hopa Sports can bet on a range of races taking place in the UK & Ireland. However, it’s hard to find a reason to place your horse racing bets with Hopa as there aren’t any racing offers available. Bookmakers such as Betfred and Paddy Power are much better choices given that offers such as Best Odds Guaranteed, Extra Places and Money-Back Specials are available on a daily basis for various races.
Hopa Sports Football Offers
You won’t find the number of football betting offers available at Hopa than you will at some of the top bookies. However, they do have a couple available on a regular basis.
The first is their ‘HopaBoost’ promotion which allows customers to receive up to 77% extra on winning Accas. You simply have to place an accumulator bet containing four or more selections with odds of 1/2 (1.2) each and if it wins, you’ll receive additional winnings on top of your expected returns.
The amount of extra winnings will depend on the number of selections in your winning acca with winning 4-folds receiving an additional 4% all the way up to an extra 77% for winning accumulators containing 15 or more selections.
Hopa Sports Existing Customer Offers
To view all the currently available betting offers at Hopa Sports, visit the promotions page on the Hopa Sports website.
One regular promotion which is available to customers are Hopa Challenges. Customers can join any challenge for free and climb the leaderboard by placing bets on sports and events specified in that challenge. The customers who finish the promotion in the top positions of the leaderboard will win prices such as free bets and free spins.
Hopa Challenges are available throughout the week. Visit the promotions page for more details on the latest challenges available.
Hopa Sports Promo Codes
Promo codes are not used often for Hopa Sports betting offers. Occasionally, customers may be asked to opt-in to a promotion but rarely is a bonus code required. Should a code be needed, it will be stated in the terms of the offer along with where to enter it.
Hopa Sports Casino Offers
Hopa started out solely as an online casino and so you’d expect a number of casino offers to be available. Existing customers may receive bonus and free spin offers once registered but the promotions page only shows a welcome offer available to new customers.
New customers at Hopa Casino can claim up to £500 in bonuses + 100 free spins as part of the welcome offer. The bonus bundle is split between your first three deposits as follows:
- 1st Deposit – 50% up to £50 + 20 SPINS
- 2nd Deposit – 25% up to £200
- 3rd Deposit – 25% up to £250
- PLUS GET 20 SPINS EVERY DAY FOR 5 DAYS!

Offer Details
After clicking ‘Customer Support’, the live chat service began, and we decided to ask about any potential VIP/Loyalty programmes the bookie had.
TABLE OF CONTENT
After functioning primarily as a casino operator following its establishment in 2005, Hopa decided to add a sportsbook to their ranks in 2019. In this in-depth review, we’ll explore every corner of Hopa’s sportsbook to see how they compare to the veterans of the UK betting scene. Welcome to ThePuntersPage’s definitive guide to betting with Hopa!
- Simple two-step process
- Basic information required
- Deposit limits set upon confirmation
Registering with Hopa is a nice and easy two-step process. Step one, as depicted below, merely involves entering your email address and creating a username and password.
Step two is just as straightforward. Here, all you need to do is enter your name, gender, birthday, preferred currency, address and mobile phone number. This is also where you can redeem a bonus code, if you’re fortunate enough to have access to one.
Once you’ve clicked both boxes regarding potential bonus offers and the terms and conditions, you’ll then be able to access the big green ‘Open Account’ button to begin your betting journey with Hopa!
Upon confirmation, punters can set Deposit Limits and will have the chance to verify their account – which, admittedly, isn’t very clear, as it isn’t noted what documents the bookmaker require from you.
- Plethora of payment options
- Varied withdrawal times
- No cryptocurrencies
The depositing process is, as expected, markedly easy as well. Once you’ve clicked on the distinct ‘Deposit’ icon, you’ll be greeted with the below screen.

Hopa presents you with four payment options, although, as we’ll find out, there are many more to choose from. Nevertheless, to deposit with a Visa/Mastercard debit card, all you need to do is fill out all the standard card information (name on card, card number, expiry date, security number) before selecting the amount you want to deposit.
Hopa primarily offers three deposit options: £25, £40 and £50; however, punters can deposit as little as £10. Once you’ve decided on an amount, a click of the green ‘Deposit’ button will leave you with a funded account.
Customers can also use Skrill, NETELLER, Bank Transfer, Trustly, Rapid Transfer and AstroPay with Hopa. All payment options boast a £10 minimum deposit, although the withdrawal process – somewhat confusingly referred to as ‘Cashout’ on the site – does differ in efficiency depending on the payment method you’ve chosen.
It could take up to six days for funds to arrive in your bank account if you’re using a debit card or Bank Transfer, for example, but only up to 48 hours with Skrill, NETELLER, PayPal and MuchBetter. You may be wanting up to four days with Rapid Transfer, while AstroPay specifically takes three days.
Unfortunately for some, there are no cryptocurrencies available with this bookmaker.
- Deposit £10+ for £10 free bet
- Entry into ‘Hopa Challenge Welcome Tournament’
Hopa does possess a fairly basic but generous welcome offer for new customers, who can place a standard deposit of £10 or more to claim a £10 free bet.
New customers are only eligible for this offer once, and all qualifying bets must be placed on selections with odds greater than evens (1/1). Should punters claim this offer, they’ll also be entered into the ‘Hopa Challenge Welcome Tournament’, in which newcomers can compete against one another to work their way up a leaderboard in a bid to win a cash prize.
We’ll explain Hopa’s tournaments in a little more detail in the next section.
- Daily tournaments
- HopaBOOST
- Promos frequently updated
Having a variety of sportsbook promotions on offer is imperative for bookies to strengthen customer loyalty, and Hopa do so via daily tournaments and challenges. Such challenges are regularly updated to ensure a sense of freshness is exuded; at the time of writing, punters can compete in the ‘Cheltenham Festival Hopa Challenge.’
This challenge allows punters to compete against one another, earn points and work their way up the leaderboard in a bid to claim a £3,000 jackpot (£500 daily jackpot). The riskier the bet, the more points you earn.
Hopa’s tournaments are free to join and cover all sports, with the above image showing a daily football challenge. Moreover, Hopa also boasts a boosted accas promo in the form of HopaBOOST, whereby punters can up earn up to a 77% boost on their accas.
VIP/Loyalty Programme
We understand that Hopa did once possess a Loyalty Scheme to reward punters, but such a programme no longer exists. Thus, there is currently no VIP or Loyalty Programme for customers to enjoy.
- 25 sports available
- Competitive odds
- Superb esports and specials offering
- No bet builder
Hopa’s sportsbook is relatively broad, with 25 sports available for customers to bet on. Within each of these sports, a plethora of events are covered, and punters can enjoy a sufficient variety of markets. For example, at the time of writing this review, 173 markets are offered on the most popular football fixture.
All that being said, however, there is no point in having an impressive sportsbook offering if your odds are not competitive and attractive to players, which is what we’re going to look at next.
To measure the quality of Hopa’s margins we used the odds overround. The overround is a calculation that combines the total percentage probability of all selections in a match coming true. Naturally, the result of this should come to 100% – however, this does not factor in the profits made by the bookmaker. For this reason, it is widely accepted that any figure below 110% is considered to indicate fair odds.
Therefore, we picked three games at random from the Premier League, Italian Serie A and La Liga to determine the quality of Hopa’s odds and found the odds at 109.26%, 109.61% and 109.22% respectively, highlighting that Hopa offers not only competitive but consistent odds as well. There’s little to fault the bookie in this regard.
Punters have the choice of displaying the odds as decimals, fractions or American, with the minimum stake set at 5p. There appears to be no maximum stake as such.
Esports
Hopa boasts a huge esports offering. At the time of writing, 59 events were covered by the bookie, with games including Counter-Strike (CS:GO), Dota 2, League of Legends and Valorant Champions Tour available to bet on. For Counter-Strike and League of Legends, in particular, there were several different events on offer.
If you want to exploit the great esports offering that Hopa provides, be sure to check out our top esports tips and strategies.
Other Specials
If you’re partial to a bit of novelty betting, then Hopa may just be the perfect place for you. Those who enjoy dabbling in politics can enjoy an impressive offering with this bookie. At Hopa, you can bet on the next London Mayoral election and Conservative leader. American, EU, French, Australian, German and Irish politics are all covered too.
Specials including the upcoming Oscars, Eurovision and the current Dancing on Ice competition in the UK are also offered.
Cash Out & Bet Builder
While there’s no bet builder for customers to enjoy, you can still customise your bets (singles/accas) via Hopa’s Cash Out and Partial Cash Out functions. Such features are available on the majority of sports and markets – apart from system, forecast/tricast, outright (e.g., X to win the Premier League) and handicap bets.
- Sufficient in-play options
- Live statistics and match tracker
- No live streaming
Overall, it’s fair to say that Hopa’s live offering isn’t hugely advanced, although we’d still call it fairly decent. The above fixture had 57 markets for punters to choose from, which is pretty impressive considering the likely interest in the clash.
In-depth statistics are provided to help customers, as is a coherent match-tracker. Unfortunately, however, Hopa doesn’t offer a live streaming service.
- Licensed by the Gambling Commission of Great Britain
- Minimal account limits
- Comprehensive Privacy Policy
Hopa is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission of Great Britain for its operations in Britain, and holds a licence from the Malta Gaming Authority for all other international customers. A comprehensive Privacy Policy can also be accessed at the bottom of the homepage.
There’s certainly some emphasis on responsible gambling, although it’s not a particularly standout feature. By accessing the ‘Responsible Gaming’ link at the bottom of the homepage, punters will have the chance to answer 12 questions regarding their gambling activity to decipher their risk level for problem gambling.
Customers can also set Deposit Limits, Play Limits (daily, weekly or monthly) and Loss Limits (daily max loss, weekly max loss) to prevent their gambling from spiralling out of control. However, there doesn’t appear to be an option for customers to Time Out or Self-Exclude themselves. Links for such limits of the responsible gaming page don’t appear to work, either.
Nevertheless, Hopa utilises the latest 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to ensure that sensitive data is completely private, with all data protected by the latest firewall. This ensures that customers’ private information is kept confidential and secure. Hopa also notes that such data isn’t shared with other organisations for commercial purposes.
- An efficient live chat function
- Friendly and helpful support staff
- Robust FAQ section
Hopa’s customer service doesn’t function 24/7. Instead, support staff are on hand to help customers seven days a week between 07:00 and 23:00.
If your queries aren’t answered in their decidedly robust FAQs section, you can seek further support through a variety of channels, including live chat, email and telephone.
We tested Hopa’s services ourselves and found them to be coherent and efficient. To open up the live chat, we clicked the headphone icon in the top right-hand corner of the homepage, which opened up the below tab.
After clicking ‘Customer Support’, the live chat service began, and we decided to ask about any potential VIP/Loyalty programmes the bookie had.
As you can see below, their response to our query was superb – taking a mere two minutes to respond.
They concluded our interaction with an incredibly friendly message. Overall, we couldn’t fault their live chat service.
We also ran the rule over their support email – accessible via the ‘Contact Us’ link at the bottom of the homepage.
This was a very simple, painless process. All we had to do is select an inquiry – we chose account limits – write a brief overview of our query, and confirm we were human before submitting.
Hopa’s response, however, wasn’t exactly efficient. It took them just shy of nine hours to reply. Having said that, their response was perfectly fine and, as was the case with the live chat, markedly friendly. Thus, for maximum efficiency, we recommend utilising Hopa’s live chat function for any queries.
- Simple design
- Technical performance sub-par
- BetAssistant
Hopa’s website (which is available in six different languages) follows a fairly minimal design with a black and blue colour scheme. There are certainly some aspects that appear quite gimmicky, however, such as the font showcasing the ‘Hopa Challenge’ title.
There’s also a clear effort to ensure any unique features or promotions stand out.
Featured links can be accessed on the left-hand side of the homepage, with the day’s events listed clearly in the centre. Your bet slip is also always visible on the right-hand side, which aids the betting process for customers.
As we’ve already noted, information links can be accessed at the bottom of the page. It’s worth noting, though, that on occasion, such links didn’t work. The technical performance of the site, overall, was sub-par, with frustrating loading times frequent when attempting to access different components of the site.
Hopa doesn’t provide any statistics for punters, but what they do offer may be even better. Their BetAssistant is an intriguing feature that essentially provides tips (pre-match or in-play) for punters based on historical data. Hopa says the bet recommendation engine provides between 1,500 and 3,000 tips every month on over 400 different football leagues.
However, the reliability of the engine is unknown, and this would certainly contradict any efforts made by the site to emphasise responsible gambling. In fact, any of the tips provided by BetAssistant are on games the average punter would never consider betting on.
- Poor mobile app
- Well structured
- Terrible technical performance
Hopa’s mobile app is available to download via both the App Store and Google Play, thus satisfying both Apple and Android users. The app, however, is far from perfect, with its woeful technical performance a distinct flaw. We found it to be incredibly laggy overall.
The design remains simplistic – following the same black and blue colour scheme – with its coherent structure ensuring a user-friendly experience despite its technical shortcomings. Punters can also access the bookie’s promotions, in-play markets, BetAssistant, Casino and other features via their mobile app.
In addition to its sportsbook, like other new betting sites, Hopa also provides Casino and Live Casino functions for its customers. There are over 500 casino games in total, including slots, jackpots and table games.
Unfortunately, Virtual Sports aren’t offered at Hopa.
Nevertheless, punters can also take advantage of a generous casino welcome offer, with which you can earn up to a 500% bonus and 100 free spins. New customers can earn a 50% bonus up to £50 with their first deposit, 25% up to £200 with their second and 25% up to £250 with their third. Meanwhile, their free spins can be utilised on five different games for five days after their first deposit (20x free spins each day).
While Hopa boasts boast generous welcome offers to entice punters and are likely to retain their interests with intriguing and exciting sportsbook promotions, there are several teething issues. A greater emphasis on responsible gambling has to be placed, while the technical performance of both their website and mobile app has to be improved. Frequent lag and links that simply do not function are destined to frustrate customers. There are several features as mentioned in this Hopa review which we are big fans of; however, with a little bit of improvement, we see a bright future for this bookie.

Sports & Betting Markets
Hopa has a clean and user-friendly sportsbook design with 30+ sports available. You will find all of the popular sports in the UK including football, horse racing and tennis to name a few. But, there is also a wide range of niche sports such as esports, bandy, ice hockey and more.
The racing products are not great though, with just a few UK and Irish races available. Instead, we recommend looking at our list of the best horse racing betting sites in the UK.
But, if you are looking to bet on football, tennis, or other popular sports, Hopa could be a solid option. You will find 1000’s football matches from all around the world and 100+ betting markets for most games.
As for the betting margins, our tests produced some positive results with pre-game football markets boasting an average of 4.35% which is lower than the majority of betting sites in the UK.
Once again, we are seeing a new sports betting site offering lower betting margins than most of the established bookmakers, apart from BetVictor.
Overall, we recommend trying Hopa Sports for the low betting margins and easy to claim sign up offer.
Hopa’s Customer Support
Sadly, the Hopa customer support is not 24/7, but they do offer generous opening hours from 06:00 – 23:00 GMT 7 days a week. Still, we believe all online betting sites should offer 24/7 customer service.
Contact options:
- Live chat
- Phone – 02033189367
Hopa Conclusion
In Conclusion, Hopa is a solid option for anyone looking to play on a new sports betting site. You can try the sportsbook with an easy to claim welcome offer and stay for the low betting margins. There is also a VIP Club in which every bet you place will earn points to climb up the VIP ladder.
We like the wide range of payment methods, 30+ sports, and good depth in betting markets, but we would like to see 24/7 customer service and more promotions for existing customers.
