OddSet Sportsbook

The odds of the respective tips are multiplied. The maximum rate of a combination bet is 1000: 1, the highest possible win is limited to € 100,000. If only one result of a combination bet is incorrect, the entire bet is considered lost. That is why winnings are difficult to achieve with combination bets.

Generic term

In the Oddset betting form, you can mainly bet football games , ice hockey games as well as NBA , NFL and NHL games .

Oddset bets are also in the EU -licensed bookmakers offered and licensed bookmakers in Germany.

In contrast to a totaliser bet as it is common on racetracks , in which the odds fluctuate permanently depending on the stakes, the odds in an oddset bet (oddset = odds set) are fixed. The bettor knows the quota before the ticket is submitted and the quota does not change once the ticket has been submitted. If the organizer is unlucky, he can make big losses due to the fixed odds. On the other hand, big wins are also possible, for example in falling favorites.

Different sports have different rules when it comes to tie games, like in hockey a tie is including overtime, so your game essentially needs to go into a shootout for your tie wager to cash. In terms of football, a tie is a game decided by three points or less, so be wary of that wager. Baseball ties are decided by one run, and basketball a tie is decided by five points or less.

How to Bet on BCLC’s Sports Action

There are a few sports betting options available at Sports Action, and we want to help you understand them a little better so you can make the best betting decisions possible.

Oddset 3-Outcome

While this title is a little self-explanatory – we prefer to call these wagering types parlays. Parlays are multi-leg wagers where you select multiple outcomes of games to increase your odds.

With the Sports Action Oddset 3-Outcome, you are doing just that – you are selecting three or more games you want to bet on and select whether you think the visitor will win, the home team will win or a tie. You will mark the options you want to bet on, V for a visitor, H for home, and T for the tie. You then place your wager, and if all of your predictions are correct, you will win your bet.

Oddset 2-Outcome

Another popular betting option on Sports Action is the Oddset 2-Outcome wager. It follows the exact sample principles as the Oddset 3-Outcome, just two options.

Oddset Combo

Oddset Combo allows you to play multiple sports on one slip. These are just other parlay options essentially, you just will have all of your wagers on one betting slip. You could see a “Go for 2” option on your bet slip, and you just select that to combine your wagers into a combination bet.

Point Spreads

Point spreads are fairly common in the sports betting industry and well known around the world. Sports Action point spreads even the odds between two teams so that the underdog team has a fighting chance. The underdog will have odds with a positive number next to it, and the favored team will have a negative number next to it.

If we’re looking at an NHL matchup between two Canadian Teams:

  • Toronto Maple Leafs +2.5
  • Vancouver Canucks -2.5

These numbers mean that the oddsmakers believe the Vancouver Canucks will beat the Leafs by more than 3 goals. This means that you will need to decide if you think that the Toronto Maple Leafs will lose by less than 2 goals, or win the game entirely. If you think that is the case, you should pick the Leafs. If you are with the oddsmakers and think that the Canucks will beat the Leafs by quite a bit, you should pick the Canucks – they only have to win by 3 or more goals for your bet to win.

Totals (Over/Under)

If you’re playing the over/under, it’s a pretty standard and safe bet to make. If you aren’t a huge sports fan and don’t know a lot about the teams playing, it is a great option because you are betting on the final outcome of both teams combined.

If you’re looking at the same matchup as above, you will need to predict the total number of goals scored by both the Leafs and Canucks collectively. If the Canucks are favored to win by more than 3 goals, we might see a total set at 6.5 by the Sports Action oddsmakers.

Your job is to determine if you think that both teams will score more or less than 6.5 collectively. If you pick the over and the final score is 2-1, you will lose your wager. If you picked the over and the score was 5-3, you will win.

Toto wagers are very risky and not for the faint of heart. You will be choosing the outcomes of 13, 12 or 11 games, and you will need to be correct on all predictions to win the cash prize. Sports Action has this option, and while you can create 13 game parlays at any sportsbook to win a huge prize, not many sports bettors do this successfully.

Props

Sports Action has some prop bets available, not as many as you’d see on an online sportsbook, but you can get some decent value from their menu if you already have an account.

Prop bets are events or instances in the game that have nothing to do with the final outcome of the game. Anything under the sun that you didn’t bet on above, is up for grabs. For example, you can bet on if there will be power-play goals, who scores next, or any player props they might have available.

If you’re betting on power-play goals, and the line is set at 0.5, and you choose the over, you will need one team to score at least one goal in the power play for your bet to cash.

In order to win, all predictions must be correct. The prize value is calculated by multiplying the odds for each selected event to determine the total odds for that ticket. The total odds are then multiplied by the amount being bet to determine the prize value. The potential prize value will be printed on your ticket.

How to Play Sports Action

Playing Oddset 3-Outcome is as easy as picking the outcome of the game.

  1. Pick up a current Sports Action Oddset Menu here or at your local Lottery Retailer.

In order to win, all predictions must be correct. The prize value is calculated by multiplying the odds for each selected event to determine the total odds for that ticket. The total odds are then multiplied by the amount being bet to determine the prize value. The potential prize value will be printed on your ticket.

Tie Rules

Hockey
A tie in regular season hockey is the outcome at the end of play, including overtime, but excluding shootouts.

Oddset 2-Outcome

Playing Oddset 2-Outcome is as easy as picking who wins the game.

  1. Pick up a current Sports Action Oddset Menu here or at your local Lottery Retailer.
  2. Choose the number of sporting events you want to bet on, from 2 to 6.
  3. Mark the outcomes of the games you want to bet on: V for Visitor Win or H for Home Win.
  4. Mark the amount you’d like to bet, from $2 to $100.
  5. In the rare event of a tie, odds of 1.00 will be awarded to both the Visitor Win and Home Win.

In order to win, all predictions must be correct. The prize value is calculated by multiplying the odds for each selected event to determine the total odds for that ticket. The total odds are then multiplied by the amount being bet to determine the prize value. The potential prize value will be printed on your ticket.

Oddset Combo

Oddset Combo is an easy way to play multiple Sports Action Oddset games on one selection slip.

For example, by selecting the “Go For 2” box on your selection slip and selecting three teams that would equal:

Team A x Team B x the amount bet

Team A x Team C x the amount bet

Team B x Team C x the amount bet

And by selecting the “Go For All” box that would equal:

Team A x Team B x Team C x the amount bet

That’s four selections slips in one!

Point Spread

A Point Spread is used in sports betting to even the odds between two unevenly matched teams. Each team is given a point total that can either be added or subtracted to a team’s final score. For example, if the Point Spread for a hockey team is -1.5, that means that 1.5 goals are subtracted from their final score. In other words, the team must win by 2 goals or more in order for them to be considered the winner.

  1. Pick up a current Sports Action Point Spread Menu here or at your local Lottery Retailer.
  2. Choose the number of sporting events you want to bet on, from 2 to 12.
  3. Based on the BCLC Point Spread, select the games you’d like to bet on by marking your predictions as “V” for a win by the vising team or “H” for a win by the home team.
  4. Mark the amount you’d like to bet, from $2 to $20.

Over / Under

The Over / Under line is BCLC’s projected total score for each game. For example, if the line is 5.5, and the total number of goals scored by both teams is 5 or less, the UNDER would be correct. If 6 or more total goals are scored, the OVER would be correct.

  1. Pick up a current Sports Action Over / Under Menu here or at your local Lottery Retailer.
  2. Choose the number of sporting events you want to bet on, from 2 to 10.
  3. Based on the BCLC Over / Under lines, select the games you’d like to bet on by marking your prediction as either “O” OVER or “U” UNDER the projected line for that game.
  4. Mark the amount you’d like to bet, from $2 to $20.

Win with 13, 12 or 11 games correctly predicted!

  1. Pick up a current Sports Action Toto Menu here or at your local Lottery Retailer.
  2. Choose your menu: either A (Football), B or C (Hockey), or D (Basketball and Soccer)
  3. Predict outcomes for all 13 games: V for Visitor Win, H for Home Win or T for Tie. Multiple predictions are required for two or more games.
  4. If you correctly predict the outcomes of 11, 12, or 13 games, you win or share the prize pool.

Ticket Cost

To calculate the price of your Toto ticket, use the chart below. A “Single” means one prediction per game, a “Double” means two predictions per game, and a “Triple” means three predictions per game.

To manually calculate your ticket cost, multiply the number of predictions in Game 1 by the number of predictions in Game 2, and continue this process through to Game 13. Multiply the product of this calculation by 25¢ to determine total ticket cost.

Singles Doubles Triples Cost
11 2 0 $1.00

To manually calculate your ticket cost, multiply the number of predictions in Game 1 by the number of predictions in Game 2, and continue this process through to Game 13. Multiply the product of this calculation by 25¢ to determine total ticket cost.

Props

Props is the game that lets you bet on almost every event or situation that can happen in a game.

  • Pick up a current Sports Action Props Menu here or at your local Lottery Retailer.
  • Choose the number of sporting events you want to bet on, from 2 to 6.
  • Predict either “O” OVER or “U” UNDER the Line; or, where applicable, “Y” YES or “N” NO to the Props question. Mark each prediction using the corresponding number from the Props Menu.
  • Mark the amount you’d like to bet, from $2 to $100.

The Line is BCLC’s projected outcome for each of the Sports Action Props. For example, if the line for Powerplay goals is 0.5, and the team does not score any Power Play Goals in the game, the UNDER would be correct. The OVER would be correct if that team scores one or more Powerplay Goals.

Props results include extra play (or overtime) EXCEPT for the following:

  • Regular season hockey (HKY): Results include overtime but exclude shootouts
  • Playoff hockey (PHK): Results exclude overtime and shootouts
  • Baseball: Results include extra innings played

To win, all of your predictions must be correct. The prize value is determined by multiplying the odds for each of the Props selected to determine the total odds for that ticket. The total odds are then multiplied by the amount you bet to determine the prize value. The potential prize value will be printed on your ticket.

In this example we have taken 3 random games from both Sports Action and Sports Interaction to set a parlay bet for a night of NHL games. As you can see the exact same parlay card that pays out only $24.44 at Sports Action pays out $45.50 at SportsInteraction.com.

Sports Action Betting

Sports Action is a sports betting program run by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, that is very similar to the proline betting program run in Ontario. BCLC’s Sports Action game currently includes Oddset (moneyline betting), Point Spread (spread betting) and Over/Under (totals betting). In British Columbia bettors must wager on 2 outcomes in order for the bet to be legal in Canada.

Sports Action is a lot of fun for the casual fan, but it is mainly a great way for the British Columbian government to make money from uninformed citizens. The odds associated with Sports Action betting tickets are horrible compared to the odds that are given online. This article will explain just how much better online sports betting is than Sports Action betting.

The Truth About Sports Action Betting

The cold hard truth is that Sports Action odds are not bettor friendly and set with the sole intent of making the government of British Columbia a lot of extra cash.

If you look at a typical Sports Action bet you will notice a great deal of extra juice. For example let’s look at one NHL game at both Sports Interaction, our top rated sportsbook for Canadians, and Sports Action.

Sports Action

  • Buffalo Sabres 2.20
  • Washington Capitals 1.25

Sports Interaction

  • Buffalo Sabres 2.33
  • Washington Capitals 1.63

As you can see the odds for both a Sabres win and a Capitals win are both more bettor friendly at Sports Interaction than at Sports Action. The odds for the Capitals to win are especially bad at Sports Action. It’s normal for the favourite to have extremely poor odds at Sports Action.

Let’s look at an example of a 3-team parlay wager with Sports Action vs www.SportsInteraction.com:

In this example we have taken 3 random games from both Sports Action and Sports Interaction to set a parlay bet for a night of NHL games. As you can see the exact same parlay card that pays out only $24.44 at Sports Action pays out $45.50 at SportsInteraction.com.

And don’t forget that the payout includes the bet amount. So the winnings at Sports Action are $14.44 compared to winnings of $35.50 at SIA.

Betting With Sports Interaction Won 2.46 Times More Than Sports Action On A $10 Bet!

Sports Interaction is our top rated sportsbook for Canadian residents because they go out of their way to ensure that Canadians and all of their bettors are happy and enjoying their online betting experience. Sports Interaction is a trusted sportsbook that is attempting to gain a larger market share in Canada and they are offering some great incentives and a quality product to achieve this. Check out the full Sports Interaction review.

6 Reasons To Bet Online Over Sports Action

1. More Money – This is a good enough reason by itself to stop betting with Sports Action and move your sports betting online. The amount of extra money you will win online is enormous and you will also be able to keep better tabs on your wins and losses because the entire amount will be sitting online. Just take another glance at the example and think about the money you are leaving in the BCLC’s pocket.

2. More Betting Options – With Sports Action there are only moneyline (regulation/shootout), spread and over/under betting options. On top of this you must bet 2 games at a time, which can force you into making some poor betting decisions. At an online sportsbook there are a ton of different betting options to choose from. In a typical NHL game, Sports Interaction will have 100+ bets you can choose from and you can wager on a single outcome at a time.

3. More Convenience – With Sports Action you have to make a trip to your local convenience store to place your bets for the evenings games. At an online sportsbook you simply jump onto your computer, head to the website and place your bets. It only takes a minute. You can deposit and withdraw via Interac at SIA making it just as easy to bet on and cash out parlay tickets.

4. Higher Betting Limits – Sports Action caps bets at $100. Online you can bet as much as you have in your bankroll. If you find a sharp bet that you know is going to payout you are able to take full advantage when betting online.

5. Faster Payouts – With Sports Action if you manage to win a ticket you have to head back to the convenience store in order to cash it, which can be a hassle and take some time. With an online sportsbook the money is automatically added to your online sportsbook cashier and available for your next bets.

6. Less Risk – People who aren’t betting online yet are often concerned with the risk. The truth is that as long as you sign up with a respectable online sportsbook like any listed here at Sports Bet Listings you can be sure that your money is safe online. With Sports Action if you lose your ticket that money is out the door. And I know from experience how easy it is to lose a proline ticket and I expect it is just as easy to lose a Sports Action ticket out in British Columbia.

The Washington State Gambling Commission entered into an arrangement with the Tulalip Tribes, and is looking to do the same for other tribal casinos across Washington, allowing the tribes to offer betting on major sports leagues, international events, and college athletics, except for games involving in-state schools. There is no plan to allow online or mobile sports betting or anything else outside of authorized tribal casinos.

Why you should avoid unregulated sportsbooks

The BCLC knows BC residents have been betting on sports with grey-market offshore sportsbooks offering single-game wagering options over the internet for years. In its address to the House of Commons showing support for the effort to legalize single-game wagering here, the BCLC lamented the fact these unregulated off-shore websites operate without providing revenue, jobs, or any support to BC. They claimed these sites are operating illegally in Canada, outside of any regulatory framework, and that puts players at risk with little to no player health safeguards.

The BCLC estimates it has lost as much as $250 million in revenue over the past five years to these grey-market websites because of its inability to offer single-game wagering and betting on MMA and Boxing events. The organization supported the legalization of single-game wagering because it believed that will create a level playing field, giving it the chance to offer single-game sports betting in a way that benefits BC and its players, in a regulated environment with player health, integrity, and security safeguards in place. That’s now happening with single-game wagering now available on PlayNow.com.

Canadian oversight

Operating without Canadian oversight or regulation means the grey-market offshore sportsbooks are free to do whatever they want with the money you deposit with them or win from them. Many employ shady banking techniques tricking Canadian banks into dealing with them and making it difficult for you to get your money from them. Some even employ predatory banking practices, delaying withdrawals or offering bonuses if you cancel withdrawals, attempting to hold on to your winnings just long enough for you to lose those winnings back to them. Just like several offshore online poker operators have in the past, grey-market offshore sportsbooks may one-day disappear and take your money with them and you’ll have nowhere to turn.
